Citrus Tide is more than its highlighted botanicals. Every ingredient in the formula has a job—from the oils and botanical actives that condition the skin to the humectants, emulsifiers, antioxidants, and other ingredients that give the finished product its texture, stability, and feel.

Citrus Tide begins bright and fresh, with a juicy citrus character inspired by the warmth and energy of early morning along the Pacific Northwest coast. As it settles, the brightness gives way to subtle warmth and depth, creating a scent that feels fresh and uplifting without becoming overly sweet.
The fragrance was developed specifically for Citrus Tide to complement the line’s Nourish • Renew • Glow story. The complete aromatic blend is proprietary to Seaside Daisy, so while its character is part of the story, the individual components and proportions remain part of the formula.

Meadowfoam seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the meadowfoam plant, a small flowering plant native to the Pacific Northwest. It’s especially valued in skincare because of its unusual fatty-acid composition, which makes it highly stable compared with many other botanical oils. On the skin, it provides lightweight emollience and helps soften and condition without an overly heavy or greasy feel. I chose meadowfoam because it gives Citrus Tide that silky, polished skin feel while fitting naturally into the coastal Pacific Northwest story behind the collec.

Mango seed butter is made from the kernel found inside the seed of the mango fruit. Rich in fatty acids, it works as an emollient, helping soften the skin and support a smooth, comfortable feel. It also adds body and richness to the lotion without needing to make the finished formula feel excessively heavy. In Citrus Tide, mango seed butter provides some of the deeper conditioning that balances the lighter botanical oils.

Sea buckthorn seed oil comes from the seeds of the bright orange berries of the sea buckthorn plant. The oil contains a naturally occurring mixture of fatty acids and antioxidant compounds and is prized in cosmetic formulations for its skin-conditioning properties. Its naturally warm color also fits beautifully with Citrus Tide’s golden-orange identity. I chose sea buckthorn because it brings both botanical character and nourishing emollience to the formula.

Squalane is a lightweight, highly stable emollient used to soften the skin and help reduce moisture loss from its surface. Unlike heavier botanical oils, it has a very smooth, almost weightless slip and absorbs without leaving a particularly oily finish. It helps give Citrus Tide a softer, more refined after-feel and works beautifully alongside the richer seed oils and butters in the formula.

Watermelon seed oil is obtained from watermelon seeds and is naturally rich in unsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. It has a light texture that makes it especially useful when you want the conditioning benefits of a botanical oil without a heavy finish. In the Citrus Tide facial oil, it helps keep the blend light, silky and comfortable on the skin while contributing additional emollience.

Rosehip seed oil is pressed from the seeds found within the fruit of wild rose plants. It naturally contains essential fatty acids along with carotenoids and other antioxidant compounds, which have made it a longtime favorite in facial skincare. It conditions and softens the skin while adding richness without requiring a thick, heavy texture. I included rosehip in the Citrus Tide facial oil because it complements the other carefully chosen seed oils in a concentrated daily facial blend.

Prickly pear seed oil is produced from the tiny seeds inside the fruit of the prickly pear cactus. Because those seeds contain relatively little oil, producing the oil requires a surprisingly large amount of fruit, which is one reason it is considered a particularly special botanical oil. It contains fatty acids and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds, including vitamin E. In Citrus Tide, it adds lightweight conditioning and a silky feel to the facial oil blend.

Carrot seed oil brings another botanical layer to the Citrus Tide facial oil, contributing skin-conditioning lipids and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds. Its warm botanical character works especially well alongside sea buckthorn, rosehip and the turmeric-and-annatto infusion. For the website, I’d keep its sourcing description intentionally simple until we confirm the exact type of carrot seed oil you use, since “carrot seed oil” can refer to products produced through different extraction methods.

This is one of the ingredients that really captures the identity of Citrus Tide. Jojoba oil is infused with turmeric and annatto, creating a botanical oil with the beautiful warm golden-orange character that inspired so much of the line’s visual story. Jojoba itself is a highly stable, lightweight emollient that closely resembles the wax esters naturally present on human skin, helping condition and soften without an excessively greasy feel. The turmeric and annatto infusion makes this more than just another carrier oil—it connects the formula directly to the warm, glowing color palette at the heart of Citrus Tide.

Bakuchiol is a botanical compound most commonly obtained from the seeds and leaves of the babchi plant. It has become especially valued in modern skincare as a plant-derived ingredient used in formulas designed to support smoother, more refined-looking skin. Unlike an oil included primarily for emollience, bakuchiol is here as a skin-focused ingredient that adds another level of purpose to the formula. I chose bakuchiol for Citrus Tide because I wanted the line to go beyond basic moisturization and incorporate thoughtfully selected ingredients that fit its Nourish • Renew • Glow philosophy.

Caffeine is a naturally occurring compound found in plants including coffee, tea and cacao, although cosmetic caffeine is typically used in a purified form for consistency and formulation control. In skincare, it is valued for its antioxidant properties and is commonly used in formulas intended to help skin look refreshed and revitalized. It dissolves into the water phase of the Citrus Tide lotion rather than adding heaviness or oiliness to the finished formula. I chose caffeine because it fits naturally with Citrus Tide's bright, morning-inspired character while giving the lotion an additional skin-focused ingredient beyond its botanical oils and butters.

Coenzyme Q10, also called ubiquinone, is an antioxidant compound that occurs naturally in the human body and is also widely used in skincare. In cosmetic formulas, it is valued for its antioxidant properties and its ability to complement other ingredients used to support healthy-looking skin. Because Citrus Tide was designed around the idea of nourishing and renewing the skin, CoQ10 became one of the ingredients that helped shape the identity of the line. I chose it for both the lotion and facial oil because it adds a purposeful antioxidant component while working beautifully alongside bakuchiol, Vitamin E and the botanical oils.

Vitamin E, listed on the ingredient label as tocopherol, is a naturally occurring antioxidant found in many plant oils and is also available as a concentrated cosmetic ingredient. On the skin, it acts as an emollient and helps condition and soften, while its antioxidant properties also make it valuable in oil-rich formulations. Within a formula, Vitamin E can also help slow the oxidation of susceptible botanical oils. I chose Vitamin E for Citrus Tide because it serves two purposes beautifully: it contributes to the skin-conditioning qualities of the products while supporting the botanical oil blends themselves.

Sodium lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid and is a naturally occurring component of the skin's own Natural Moisturizing Factor. In cosmetic formulations, it functions primarily as a humectant, meaning it helps attract and hold water at the skin's surface. That makes it particularly useful in a lotion designed to leave skin feeling hydrated without relying entirely on heavier oils and butters. I chose sodium lactate for Citrus Tide because it helps balance the richness of the botanical oils with lightweight hydration.

Hydrolyzed silk is created by breaking silk proteins into smaller, water-soluble components that can be incorporated into cosmetic formulas. These silk-derived amino acids are valued for their conditioning properties and for the smooth, elegant feel they can contribute to skincare products. In Citrus Tide, they help complement the richer oils and butter without adding additional greasiness or weight. I chose silk amino acids because I wanted the lotion to feel polished and silky on the skin, not simply rich or heavy.

Allantoin is a skin-conditioning ingredient that occurs naturally in several plants, although the allantoin used in modern cosmetic formulations may also be produced for cosmetic use. It is widely used in skincare because it helps support a soft, smooth and comfortable skin feel and works well even at relatively low concentrations. In a formula filled with more noticeable botanical oils and actives, allantoin quietly contributes to the overall experience of the finished lotion. I chose it for Citrus Tide because I wanted the formula to feel as good on the skin as the more recognizable ingredients make it sound on paper.

Orange blossom water is an aromatic floral water traditionally associated with the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Unlike orange essential oil, which comes from citrus peel, orange blossom water is water-based and brings a much softer botanical character to a formulation. In Citrus Tide, it becomes part of the lotion's water phase rather than functioning as one of its botanical oils. I chose orange blossom water because it gives the formula another genuine connection to the citrus plants that inspired the line without simply adding more oil or fragrance.

Vegetable glycerin is a clear, water-soluble humectant commonly derived from plant-based fats and oils. Its primary role in skincare is to attract water and help maintain moisture at the skin's surface, which contributes to a softer and more hydrated feel. Because glycerin works through the water phase rather than by coating the skin with additional oil, it pairs especially well with botanical oils and butters in a balanced lotion. I chose glycerin for Citrus Tide because it gives the formula dependable hydration while allowing the finished lotion to remain comfortable for everyday use.

Emulsifying wax is what allows the water and botanical oils in Citrus Tide to come together and remain blended as a smooth, stable lotion. The emulsifying system includes Polysorbate 60 and Cetearyl Alcohol, which work together to create and stabilize the emulsion while also contributing to the lotion’s creamy texture and skin feel. Without an emulsifying system, the water and oils would naturally separate. I use emulsifying wax because it lets me combine Citrus Tide’s water-based ingredients, botanical oils and mango butter into one consistent, beautifully textured lotion.

Cetyl alcohol is another fatty alcohol used in cosmetic formulations for structure, texture and emollience. It helps thicken a lotion while also improving slip, giving the product a smoother glide as it is applied to the skin. Used alongside the rest of the emulsifying and thickening system, it helps create the consistency and finished feel of Citrus Tide. I chose it because I wanted a lotion with enough body to feel nourishing while still spreading easily and leaving a smooth, polished finish.

Liquid Germall Plus is a broad-spectrum cosmetic preservative system used in water-containing products such as lotions. On the Citrus Tide label, its components are listed as propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea and iodopropynyl butylcarbamate. Because water-based cosmetics can support the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold, an effective preservative system is an essential part of creating a product intended to remain safe during normal storage and use. I use Liquid Germall Plus in Citrus Tide because preservation isn't an optional extra in a water-based lotion—it's part of making the formula responsibly.
